Transportation in Barbados is no problem. Explore the island on your own timetable by renting a car.
There are many local companies offering competitive car rental rates. Have fun finding the spots only the locals know—as we say, “you are never lost, just taking the scenic route.” Locals will be happy to help with directions! It can be quite hilarious.
Barbados has a well-run and extensive public transportation system. For a little more than one dollar, you can ride the bus to anywhere. The blue and yellow Government-run buses leave from the terminals in Bridgetown and Speightstown and cover most of the island.
Travelling on one of the privately-run yellow minibuses or the white “ZR” vans is an adventure…you’ll get where you need to in a hurry and probably enjoy some local music at the same time!
Taxis in Barbados are usually very well-run and professional. It’s a good idea to check with the Plum Tree Club front desk for recommendations, as many taxi drivers also do island tours or can drive you for your entire stay at a reduced rate.
Most attractions and tours will pick you up at Plum Tree Club.
Travelling around Barbados is easy and fun. You’ll make wonderful memories and discover the island that Bajans know and love.
